YouTube
I feel that one of the best forms of social media is YouTube. I believe this because anybody with a camera and internet can post videos immediately after it happens. Like something stupid you did or critical news. It will be on YouTube. You can basically type in anything and it will pop up on YouTube.
MW3
I love to play games one of my favorite games to play is Modern Warfare 3. Its basically a shoot em up kind of game. One of the things I love most about that game is that I can play with all my friends with out leaving my bed. Since the way video games are today its all connected through the internet so I can play with my friends through out the U.S. If for some reason non of my friends are on I can always play with the rest of the people online through out the world. Which I believe is great way to socialize with almost an infinite amount of people with out ever leaving your bed. I also feel that video games are a good way for social media to flow since yes you talk a lot about the game but, since your meeting new people every where you discuss a lot with them.
Technology the new way to post
In Quinns blog she talks about Technology the New Way to Post she writes about how people can protest to big business through social media with out having to be there. If a big business does something the costumers don't approve then can all ban together online and file complaints or threaten to leave. All with out leaving there couch and the business do sometimes take it serious. I feel that this is a good thing because of today's busy life style you don't always have the time to go the place of business and protest.
Where I lived and what I lived for
Thoreau, H. D.(1854). Where I lived and what I lived for.In S.Cohen, 50 Essays(pp.403-409). Boston:Bedford/St.Martin
In the essay "Where I Lived and What I Lived For" by Henry David Thoreau, he talks about all the different changes around him. He talks about the railroad and the post office and how its moving to fast for him. According to Thoreau he says all we need is simplicity. I think that in his own ways he right that technology advance way to fast to keep up sometimes. I also think that advancement in technology like social media is an amazing thing to be able to contact with people and here the news instant.

Why the Revolution will not be Tweeted
Gladwell, M.(2010, October 4). Small Changes; Why the Revolution will not be Tweeted. The New Yorker, pg 42
The article "Small Changes; Why the revolution will not be tweeted" by the The New Yorker is about the weak bonds with twitter, Facebook and other social media sites gives to people. In the beginning of the article it talks about four African American that were close friends in college in North Carolina that decide to have a sit down in Woolworth that was for white only in the 1960's. Each day they would return with more and more people to help with the protest. The article goes on talking bout because there friendship was so good they were able to do this. I feel that what the article is trying to say is kind of true with the sit down only being possible because of how close there friends ship was but, I believe that if something like this would have happen with Facebook or twitter it would have been a much larger turn out and a faster response. Twitter and Facebook are a great way to reach a lot of people in a short amount of time.

GAMES
Johnson,S.(2011). Game.in S. Cohen(Ed),50 Essay (pp.196-201)Boston: Bedford st martin.
In the essay "Games" by Steven Johnson he talks about the negative and positive of reading and playing video games. Johnson discusses how reading is good. the benefits of reading: effort, concentration, attention, the ability to make sense of words, to follow narrative threads, to sculpt imagined worlds out of mere sentences on a page. He also talks about how video games are good because it improves your visual intelligence, your manual dexterity, and hand eye coordination but what he doesn't mention is how video games help improve social skills. There are also games out there today that actually teach kids how to read. I feel as though Johnson had a good point about books when he wrote this but i do believe that video games are taking over and involving into so much more then pong. The today's video games can go anywhere whether its teaching you to read or learn a new language or even taking you to a new world to fight mystical creatures and solve mysteries by reading and finding clues or even just shooting the bad guy with your friends online from other states and countries video games can pretty much do it all and help all types of needs.

T.V.
Winn,M.(1977). Television the Plug-in Drug. In S. Cohen, 50 Essays (pp. 438-447). Boston: Bed ford/St.Martin.
In the essay "Television: The Plug-In Drug" by Marie Winn it talks about how television has become the replacement for family time.Winn goes on about how since the invention of the TV it has taken away from family's talking and spending time with one another. it also has made it harder for people to be able to socialize with others in real life situations because its not as easy as the TV situations. According to Winn she believes that if family turned off there TV or just got rid of it all together then that family would function a lot better by being able to communicate with one another. Also having to discuss there problems and not hiding behind a TV.
